Now that I can post again I thought I'd catch up on what I've been doing for the past 1-1/2 years! The above quilts were made for my sewing room. I kept waiting to afford some quilt hangers and never got them hung. I saw a video on youtube that showed how to make self-leveling hangers using monkey hooks and decided that's how I wanted them hung. I really like how they turned out and they truly are self-leveling!
This quilt has quotes from a general authority in our church, Elder Dieter Uchtdorf. In this talk he spoke of his love of the forget-me-nots he would see growing in his home country of Germany. I found a picture of a forget-me-not on the internet and made my own template for applique of the flower. The quotes around the side are a continuation of the saying, "forget not" and are as follows. "Forget not...to be patient with yourself, ...the difference between a good sacrifice and a foolish sacrifice, ...to be happy now, ...the 'why' of the gospel," and then the center is the final quote, "forget not that the Lord loves you." I was going through a difficult time when I designed and made this quilt and found great comfort and hope in the words and the physical act of making this quilt.
|I love the bright colors of this quilt. I'd made one similar to it for my friend's quilt shop display and loved it so much that I had to make one for me! Orange is my favorite color and I love the fact that it's popular in fabrics right now without being Halloweenish!|
My "Swoon" quilt that is currently at the quilters. I love the bright fun colors. It will go on the twin bed that's in my sewing room and will anchor all the colors I've used in the room.
Hot pads for a "thank you" gift for a friend.
Eventually I'll need to have a total knee done on my left knee (right one done a year ago) and I wanted some pockets for the side of my walker so I could carry a phone, book, remote control, etc. without endangering myself with carrying a grocery bag on the side like I did before. I like how they turned out. The back is the fabric of the heart and is what I'll see most while using my walker.
to see how Dr. Grammy saved the day! I don't have time to repost it.
